1. Do you have any sweet or quirky stories about how you and your husband met/ got engaged?

We met in nursing school at a small school in Waterloo, Iowa! It was so unpredictable as Keegan is originally from California. (How did he end up in Iowa, right?!) I definitely think God had a hand in connecting us. I almost started school a year earlier, but things didn’t quite work out so I had to wait a year before starting nursing school. Keegan chose to go to school at Central College in Pella, Iowa instead of staying in California. Upon graduation from Central, Keegan decided to head to Waterloo for nursing school. I noticed Keegan right away, but how could I not?! He’s so handsome, has an infectious smile, and is the most kind person I have ever met. Here I am today, so lucky he chose me to spend forever with!

2. What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

My favorite part of wedding planning was picking out our music and meeting with Laura, our photographer! Keegan’s favorite part was picking out which craft beers we would serve at the reception!

3. How would you describe the “vibe” of your wedding?

Classic and elegant, with a modern touch.

4. Tell us about your favorite parts of your dress shopping experience.

My favorite part of dress shopping was how kind and positive everyone at Pure Bridal was! I never felt rushed or like I was being a burden to anyone who was helping me, even when I tried on the same dress a few different times. And that is EVERYTHING. I also loved when I first saw my dress. I actually saw it on someone else at the shop first and I just fell in love.

5. How did you find find most of your wedding vendors?

We found most of our wedding vendors through online searches and social media.

When we first saw the photos from this incredible wedding, we knew we had to feature it… we promise it wasn’t just the bride’s adorable pup! We absolutely adore this couple and authentic love for each other. I got chills reading about their proposal and can completely relate to Megan’s favorite part of planning her wedding (it isn’t what you think!).

1. Do you have any sweet or quirky stories about how you and your husband met / got engaged?

In true modern fashion, we met online (our very first date was downtown at Pints bar!). Our engagement story is better though! We had just put in an offer on a house and the offer was accepted. We went back to the house to take some measurements a few weeks before we actually closed. We asked his mom and grandma if they wanted to go with us to check it out (my parents live 3 hours away so I didn’t ask them to come down to just quickly look at the house). His mom and grandma and our realtor all met at the house separately, it was February so it was pretty chilly out, so when we got there everyone was already inside in the front entry way. As we walk in I hug his mom and grandma and am just kind of idling in the door way when I finally take a few steps forward and notice something on the fireplace mantel. I was in disbelief so I wasn’t sure if I was seeing what I was actually seeing but it was a ring in a box with 2 Coors Lights beside it (my favorite beer) and a dozen roses behind it. I asked what was going on and Cris took me by the hand and led me over to the fire place and proposed. I was in complete shock, I had no idea he bought a ring, no idea he planned to propose (although I had expressed to him how ready I was MANY times, LOL). After I said yes his mom said we had a visitor behind us and I look and my dog is there (who I always told Cris I would want him to be apart of it) and my parents were there! I couldn’t believe it. It was the best way for him to pop the question

2. What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

Honestly, for it to be over. And I completely regret thinking that now because it truly was the greatest day of my life but I was SO stressed out. I’m ridiculously organized and had dozens of lists and itineraries for the day but I was still just so scared it wasn’t going to run smoothly and anything and everything would go wrong. But it didn’t, it went perfectly (besides a mishap with our donuts lol but that got fixed quickly).

3. How would you describe the “vibe” of your wedding?

“SO FUN. I had a freaking blast ALL day long! From the start of getting ready… to the Uber ride home that night… I never stopped smiling and laughing. I had several people tell me that was one of the most fun weddings they had ever attended!

4. How did you find find most of your wedding vendors?

We found all of our vendors from Google and Facebook recommendations.

5. Do you have any tips for future brides?

LISTS!!! I had a 6 page Word document of anything and everything WEDDING. I read it every single day and made changes every single day. There was everything from vendors and what they provided/cost/who was paying for them (if brides are lucky enough to have family help), lists on things I needed for ceremony, lists on things needed for reception, list of what to pack for the weekend, itineraries for the ceremony and reception, no detail is TO small. I had individual itineraries for each person who had to do something during the ceremony or reception. Also, even if you THINK it’s unnecessary or silly, get a personal attendant. A close friend, someone who isn’t needed for anything at all besides to be at your beck and call. Mine was amazing and helped me a TON and I of course also had a list for her!

Do you ever look through someones wedding photos and instantly wish you guys were friends because you feel like you missed out by not being at their wedding? No? That’s just me? Welllll… that’s probably because you haven’t seen the photos from Taylor and Bryce’s incredible wedding out at Harpor’s Vineyard in New Virginia, Iowa .

Here is what Taylor had to say about her wedding experience.

Do you have any sweet or quirky stories about how you and your husband met / got engaged?

I have always been a “nosy Nelly” ever since I can remember. I hate secrets and surprises, so my now husband has learned that things are really hard to keep a secret from me. I’m so nosy that I knew Bryce wouldn’t have any good hiding places throughout the house, so I tore up the house looking for a ring on many occasions while he was at work. No luck! I flew to Texas for a week for a college course, and my husband knew this was the only time that he could plan an engagement without having me at home, being nosy and snooping through everything. We got engaged in the Des Moines airport when I flew back home! He had my family there and everything. I was absolutely shocked and couldn’t believe he was able to pull it off secretly. Talk about perfect planning on his part!

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

Planning a wedding is very stressful, but my favorite part of the whole process was showing up to my wedding venue, on the day of my wedding and seeing all of the little details, hard work, and planning put together. It was amazing to see all of my ideas finally fall into place.

How would you describe the “vibe” of your wedding?

The “vibe” of our wedding was full of outdoors earth tones, and “Outdoor Wonderful” was 100% what we were going for, which happens to be our Venue’s, Harpor’s Vineyard, signature saying.

How did you find find most of your wedding vendors?

I found a lot of my wedding vendors by recommendations of other vendors. Harpor’s Vineyard is what we booked first, and they shared a lot of people they had worked with and enjoyed working with. Harpor’s also had a vendor fair that I attended in 2018 and 2019, so I found a lot of other people to book there as well.

Do you have any tips for future brides?

Brides – slow down. Everyone told me how fast the day of your wedding goes by, and they weren’t kidding. My biggest piece of advice — on the day of your wedding, grab your now husband/wife, stand off to the side of your venue and just take a moment to look around. Look at all of the people there dancing, partying, conversing, and know that they are all there doing all of that in celebration of the two of you. Take a minute and just soak all of that in. Bryce and I are so grateful we took a few minutes to do that. We felt so loved!

Ashley and Dylan’s wedding is what dreams are made of. The perfect mix of minimalist beauty and rustic charm.

1. Do you have any sweet or quirky stories about how you and your husband met / got engaged?

–We just bought our first puppy together and we were taking her out on a walk since it was an oddly nice day in the middle of January. We walked to our favorite spot right outside of town that has an old preserved railroad bridge crossing the river. He proposed to me in the middle of the bridge and right after he did it two bald eagles flew over us. It was so special and amazing!

2. What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

–My favorite part was definitely picking out my dream dress! And also picking out the wedding decor, flowers, etc; since I do interior design for a living that was right up my alley!

3. How would you describe the “vibe” of your wedding?

–I would say it had a very natural, timeless, feminine look with a little bit of rustic & vintage flare to it!

4. How did you find find most of your wedding vendors?

–Mostly just research of my own either online or on social media.

5. Do you have any tips for future brides?

–My tip for future brides would be don’t stress too much about the little things, everything will turn out perfect! Another thing is, ask your photographer to pull you outside during the reception to take a few sunset photos, you definitely won’t regret it!
